Researching Black Carbon Levels

Following the Husky Superior Refinery fire, scientists from UMD’s Large Lakes Observatory are studying the waters of Lake Superior.

Less than a week after the refinery explosion in Superior, scientists from UMD’s Large Lakes Observatory (LLO) are launching a research mission to study the waters of Lake Superior.

Kathryn Schreiner, assistant professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Cody Sheik, assistant professor of Biology and microbiologist with LLO, are among a team of UMD researchers collecting samples from the water on Lake Superior. Check out this story and video from Fox21
