UMD German Studies Program joins a world refugees awareness effort.

UMD is presenting a free two-part discussion and film series: Global Refugee Situation: Local Response. The events will be presented on Sunday April 15 and 22 at Zeitgeist Arts Center, located at 222 E. Superior Street.

Refugee Resettlement in Germany

Local experts with experience working with an international refugee resettlement program will tell what a refugee resettlement looks like on a day to day basis. The panel will bring together several voices relevant to the experience of migrants and refugees, including a student perspective, a faculty perspective, professional perspective from work with refugees in Minnesota, a perspective of a refugee from our partners’ program in Schwerin, Germany. Reflect on the diversity of migrant and refugee movements across the globe. This documentary examines the personal human impact that fleeing from war and hunger can have. A discussion follows.
