The Cultural Entrepreneurship program in the UMD Department of World Languages and Cultures will hold the second of a series of six talks by researchers on cultural entrepreneurship on Thursday, September 27 from 5-6:00 pm in Humanities 480. All talks are free and open to all.
In this talk, Dr. Aparna Katre will discuss how cultural entrepreneurship is being used for the economic development of rural communities in India. Specifically, she will discuss the case study of a design-led process that has helped establish several women's cooperatives leveraging the regional crafts, enabling women to be responsible for their economic activities, both independently and competitively. The case is from the state of Bihar in India.
