Kerry Fierke, associate professor, has accepted an associate department head position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPPS). In this new role, Fierke will work closely with department head Grant Anderson to increase the focus on strategic planning and organizational effectiveness in the department. They will also work to strategically enhance the connection between PPPS faculty and the student experience in the professional program on the Duluth campus.

Laura Palombi, associate professor, and Hager, along with team members from the University and Minnesota communities, received the University of Minnesota Extension 2020 Dean’s Distinguished Diversity and Inclusion Award for their work in opioid-related prevention, intervention and recovery efforts in Minnesota and South Dakota rural and Tribal communities. This award recognizes a team or an individual's special accomplishments and innovation in achieving and sustaining diversity and inclusion efforts within the Extension organization.
Paul Ranelli, professor, is a 2020 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Pharmacy Section of the American Public Health Association. A virtual award ceremony was held on October 25, 2020.
