The St. Luke's PGY2 Pharmacotherapy residency program led by Heather Blue, assistant professor, has been awarded a full 8-year ASHP accreditation.

Kerry K. Fierke, associate professor, K. Turner, A. Vaillancourt, A. Birnbaum, and B. Griffin presented a webinar, “Student Leadership Development: How Do We Train the Next Generation?,” for the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Graduate Education and Leadership Development Special Interest Group Webinar Series, April 24, 2020.

Fierke and Gardner Lepp, education program specialist 2, had their article,  “Intention/Reflection (I/R) practice to engage student leaders,” published in the Journal of Leadership Education. 2020;19(2):49-63. doi.org/10.12806/V19/I2/R4.

Keri Hager, associate professor, was selected to receive a 2020 Emerging Teaching Scholar Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) for excellence in scholarly teaching and the scholarship of teaching and learning.

M. Johnson-Jennings, B. Duran, J. Hakes, A. Paffrath, and Meg M. Little, assistant professor, had their article, “The influence of undertreated chronic pain in a national survey: Prescription medication misuse among American Indians, Asian Pacific Islanders, Blacks, Hispanics and Whites,” published in SSM Population Health. 2020.

P. D. Maglalang, M. V. Scheible, M. K. Skurat, S. K. Jackson, J. N. Belknap, L. Ostfeld, M. Fahy, T. Nguyen, H. Bui, Little, and Randall D. Seifert, professor and associate dean, presented a poster, "Impact of Continuing Education Focused on Drugs of Abuse for High School Faculty and Staff," at the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) Virtual Conference held April 27-May 1, 2020.

Laura Palombi has been promoted to associate professor with tenure.

Palombi is the 2020 recipient of the University of Minnesota President’s Community-Engaged Scholar Award. The honor recognizes Palombi's community-engaged work in the area of reducing substance abuse and eliminating drug overdoses in Northeastern Minnesota.

Palombi was a panelist at the University of Minnesota Office of Public Engagement's Seminar, "Leveraging Our Community-Engaged Research: Policy Change and Community Development," on April 21, 2020.

A. Cernasev, S. Kuftinec, R. Bortz, J. Schommer, and Paul Ranelli, professor, had their article, “Using theater as an educational tool for understanding medication experiences from the patient perspective,” published in the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education. 2020; 84(4) 7606:459-65.

Amy Renne, academic and career advisor, received a "Recognizing Access Award" from the University of Minnesota Duluth Disability Resources Center for her work in advancing access and inclusion of people with disabilities on the Duluth campus during the 2019–20 academic year.

Tim Stratton, professor, has been named senior associate to the dean for program evaluation and accreditation. Stratton will oversee programmatic evaluation of college operations, mission based initiatives as well as accreditation activities for the professional program.

Stratton is quoted in the May 26, 2020, Pharmacy Practice News article, "Trying Telepharmacy? Here's What you Need to Know."

Jared Van Hooser, assistant professor, gave a presentation, “Deciding on a DOAC,” for  Duluth Area Pharmacists, March 26, 2020 (online/virtual).

C. Pederson and Van Hooser gave a poster presentation, “Assessing the Change in Interprofessional Collaboration-Related Skills Through the Interprofessional Standardized Patient Experience,” for the 2020 Best Practices in Health Sciences in Education, April 30, 2020 (online/virtual).
