Fierke has been elected to a three-year term as Chair-Elect of the 900+ member AACP Leadership Special Interest Group (SIG).
Keri Hager was promoted to associate professor.

Michelle Johnson-Jennings was promoted to associate professor with tenure.
Amanda Klein, assistant professor, received a $35,000 award from the Grant-in-Aid shared equipment program for a “Leica Cryostat and Vibratome.”
Klein has been appointed to the Early Career Advisory Group of the American Pain Society (2017-2019).
Klein gave two presentations at the American Pain Society Annual Meeting held May 17-20, 2017, in Pittsburgh, Penn.:

Olihe Okoro, assistant professor, presented "Treat Me as a Person: Healthcare Through the Lenses of Low-income African-American Women" at the Diversity Through the Disciplines Symposium 2017 at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus on April 27, 2017.
Paul Ranelli, professor, presented "Using Theater as an Interprofessional Educational Tool for Healthcare Professionals (Go Ask Alice)" at the Academy of Distinguished Teachers Biennial Conference held April 27, 2017, in Minneapolis, Minn. He described the theater production Go Ask Alice - a play written by Syl Jones, directed by Jack Reuler (Mixed Blood Theater, Minneapolis), and coordinated by Ranelli. Actors from Mixed Blood Theater reprised a scene from the play during the presentation.
A visual arts project by Ranelli titled "To Really See" was featured in an April 10, 2017, audio/print story on the University of Minnesota Access U website.
A May 30, 2017, MinneSOTL post titled "Joining Pharmacy and Design: Reaching Out and Collaborating Across Disciplines" featured an outreach collaboration between Abimbola Asojo (UM Interior Design) and Ranelli.
Mark Schneiderhan, associate professor, and Okoro co-presented in the Pharmacy Track session on “Naloxone: Academic Detailing, Prescribing Practices and Pharmacy School Training” at the National RX Drug Abuse and Heroin Summit held April 17-20, 2017, in Atlanta, Ga.
Sarah Schweiss, assistant professor, et al. had their recent publication, "Expanding Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency Education Through a Multisite University-Affiliated Model," highlighted in a MinneSOTL post on April 21, 2017.
Randy Seifert, senior associate dean and professor, has been named the Peters Endowed Chair in Pharmacy Practice Innovation, effective July 1, 2017. Along with his new role as Peters Chair, Seifert will serve as a co-director of the college's Center for Leading Healthcare Change and will have an affiliate appointment as a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Care & Health Systems. He will also serve as Director of Advocacy within the Professional and External Relations Division and will oversee government relations activities, including working with the Advocacy Task Force, and serving as a liaison to the Board of Pharmacy and the Minnesota Society of Health Systems Pharmacy Board of Directors. He will remain tenured in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPPS).
David Stenehjem, assistant professor, received two subawards from the University of Utah for the projects:
“Treatment Patterns, Patient Outcomes, and Healthcare Charges in Hemophilia at Hemophilia Treatment Centers in the Intermountain West” (Biogen Idec; $33,375)
“Characterizing the Non-medical Resource Utilization of Caregivers of Individuals with Glioblastoma Multiforme” (Bristol Myers Squibb; $20,025)
