Last summer, Peterson and Fredin launched their canoe from Alberta’s northern border. Sixty days later, they were in the Arctic Ocean. In between, there were forest fires, giant waves, and Innuit villages.
Audience members will hear stories of the people and wildlife the duo met along the way, see pictures from their journey, and participate in a discussion on expedition planning.
"It's fantastic to see our former students leave the campus and pursue their dreams of exploring wild places,” says Tim Bates, associate director of the Recreational Sports Outdoor Program. “These direct experiences give us a new perspective on ourselves and the world."
The Recreational Sports Outdoor Program, whose mission is to foster active, healthy, lifestyles and connections to the natural world, is sponsoring “Paddle to the Arctic."
