UMD Assistant Professor Alexis Elder

On September 20, 2017, Alexis Elder, assistant professor of Philosophy, gave a talk at the Rural Electric Management Association's (REMA) Engineers and Operations Conference about the ethics of utilizing emerging technologies.

The presentation focused on privacy issues with smart grids, a major innovation in electrical power infrastructures that gives energy providers much more detailed information about customers' electricity usage (and hence lives and activities) than has previously been available.
