International Film Series: Crossing Borders

World Languages & Cultures hosts International Film Series at Zeitgeist March 11-15.

The Spring 2018 World Languages & Cultures International Film Series: Crossing Borders will be held on March 11-15 at Zeitgeist Zinema 2 (222 E. Superior St) beginning at 7:00 pm each night. There will be a brief introduction by WLC faculty members before each film, with a reception and discussion to follow.

The films to be shown are:

  • Sunday, March 11:  Bwana, 1996, directed by Imanol Uribe, 90 mins. Spanish. Introduced by Dr. Maureen Tobin Stanley.
  • Monday, March 12: The Class, 2008, directed by Laurent Cantet, 128 mins. French. Introduced by Dr. Milan Kovacovic.
  • Tuesday, March 13: Ali, Fear Eat the Soul, 1974, directed by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, 93 mins. German. Introduced by Dr. Dan Nolan & Dr. Holly Brining.
  • Wednesday, March 14Who is Dayani Cristal?, 2013; directed by Marc Silver, 85 mins. Spanish. Introduced by Dr. Jennifer Gómez Menjívar.
  • Thursday, March 15. Youth, 2017, directed by Xiaongang Feng, 135 or 146 minutes. Chinese. Introduced by Dr. Weiqing Zhang.

All films will be shown in the original language with English subtitles.
