Student Association Alumni Weekend

Student Association (SA) Alumni Reunion was held during Bulldog Homecoming. Thirty-five SA alumni took part in the festivities.

The Student Association (SA) Alumni Reunion kicked off on Friday, October 20 during Bulldog Homecoming with a tour of campus and all of the new additions, remodels, and current construction taking place. This was followed by a reception and dinner that included current SA members.

“The SA reunion was a great night! It was so fun to see familiar faces and catch up on their life post-college, but it was equally enjoyable chatting with the current students. I was impressed with all the changes they had made to the organization’s structure and the initiatives they were working on.” Jenny McCabe ’11.

During dinner, Vice Chancellor Lisa Erwin, Associate Vice Chancellor Corbin Smyth, and current SA President Mike Kenyanya mingled with guests. After that, there was an informal social at Tavern on the Hill.

“The fact that the inaugural event drew such a large crowd is a testament to the bonds created and the character of Student Association. Dinner was filled with laughter and conversation as alumni experienced a delicious meal from UMD Catering. The reception that followed gave us the opportunity to engage with numerous friends that we otherwise might not see. It also provided an opportunity to hear SA alumni experiences which were different than our own,” Hannah Mumm ’13.

Saturday, October 21 started off with the (slightly rainy) Homecoming parade. After that, there was tailgating where SA members and alumni members enjoyed brats before the game. Bulldog Football hosted Minot State, and SA alumni received discounted tickets. In total, 35 Student Association alumni spent the weekend enjoying Bulldog Homecoming.

This reunion was a huge success in part because of the partnership between Student Association and the Alumni Relations Office. If your department or organization would like to partner with Alumni Relations Office to host an event, please contact us at [email protected].
