International Programs and Services (IPS) is hiring Student Peer Advisors

Are you a current UMD student that has studied abroad and wants to assist your peers in planning their study abroad experience? Do you enjoy working in a fun, yet challenging atmosphere? If you enjoy working with people and talking in front of large or small groups, then consider a peer advisor position with UMD Study Abroad!

Peer Advisors:

  • Serve as the International Programs and Services first point of contact at the front desk: answer phones/emails and assist walk-in visitors during office hours

  • Advise students on study abroad programs and procedures

  • Promote Study Abroad programs by providing student advising, campus outreach, presentations, special events, tabling, information sessions, and assisting with study abroad orientations (occasional after office hours and weekends may be necessary)

  • Assist with the welcome and orientation process for incoming exchange students at the start of each semester

  • Assist staff members with processing applications, scanning and copying paperwork, managing student checklists, maintaining promotional materials, and other tasks as assigned

  • Work during the summer months will be available for one new hire

Applicants must be current UMD students who have studied abroad. Applicants should have experience with customer service and organization as well as computer skills. Work study is preferred but not required. This position is approximately 10 hours a week at $11 an hour. Please apply online by March 9, 2018. Job ID: 32297
