Session One of a Workshop Series based on the book Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning (Lang, 2016)
Cognitive psychologists have repeatedly demonstrated that memories become more durable when we actually practice the task of trying to remember that information. The two goals for today are: a) reaffirm current instructional practices that have been leveraging the retrieval effect, and b) expand instructor use of the retrieval effect in daily, weekly, or semester-based activities.
