In this introductory Courage to Teach ® retreat, we will use the principles and practices of a Circle of Trust ® to provide educators with an opportunity for rest, renewal, and re-engagement with their inner lives. Using poetry, music, personal reflection and community witness, we will explore the themes of Identity and Integrity, bringing what we do closer to who we are.

August 8-10, 2016 at the Cloquet Forestry Center
This residential retreat offering will begin Monday August 8 at 4:00 and end Wednesday August 10 at at 1:00. We will nurture your body as well as your soul with all meals provided. You can expect time to reflect on your own heart as a teacher, to renew and re-align your soul with that role, to ground yourself through spacious witness in community.
UMD instructors are asked to commit with a $40.00 down payment (the equivalent of one night stay) to reserve their spot. The balance of the program costs will be covered by Campus Climate/Instructional Development Funding.
- Renew heart, mind, and spirit through the exploration of the inner landscape of a teacher’s life.
- Reconnect to one’s identity and integrity—identifying and honoring gifts and strengths, and acknowledging limits.
- Create a context for careful listening and deep connection that also honors diversity in person and profession.
- Create safe spaces and trusting relationships in their schools, with their students and colleagues, and within their communities.
- Explore the connection between attending to the inner life of educators and the renewal of public education.
