Mark Yuran is UMD’s new Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resources.

This is an upgraded role that replaces the previous director of Human Resources position. A national search was conducted, as this person has a very real impact on the daily operations and success of UMD.

“Several group interviews and a public forum were held on campus this fall to aid in the selection of this key leadership role,” says Vice Chancellor for Finance and Operations Steve Keto. “We carefully reviewed feedback and are pleased that Mark received broad support from our community. His skills and experience mesh perfectly with our needs, and I look forward to seeing his great work at UMD.”

Yuran started working on campus this month, after serving as the system Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Resources Officer for the Lone Star College System. He also spent ten years working in human resources in the Georgia Technical College system, in addition to other academic institutions.

Yuran holds an MBA from Notre Dame, a masters certificate in human resources management from Villanova, an MEd in Human Resources and Organizational Development from the University of Georgia and a BA in International Economic Affairs and French from the University of West Georgia.
