UMD's psychology department offers an online program that combines excellence in teaching with a focus on service. This rigorous program allows the same faculty to teach students in both the online and the on-campus major at the same time. The online option provides an opportunity for non-traditional students who are coming back to school or those who cannot be on campus because of work and family responsibilities.

All students are encouraged to engage in independent projects, including basic research or community service, with guidance from individual faculty.

UMD is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools through the Higher Learning Commission. UMD currently enrolls 10,800 students and accepts 91% percent of our new applicants each year into the online programs.

UMD's Online Psychology BA program ranked higher than the University of Minnesota-TC campus, University of Massachusetts Amherst, University of North Dakota, Purdue University, and other universities listed in the top 50 rankings.
