UMD welcomes the first events of the new public history program. Students, faculty, staff, and the community are invited to all of the activities.
Join in the discussions about this innovative offering in UMD's history major and welcome James Curry, the public historian for the City of Dublin, who will give two presentations.
About the Public History Track
A part of the History major, the public history track trains students to apply the skills of history study to practice in the public realm. Students and graduates participate in activities in museums, historical societies, community history projects; historic preservation programs; and other venues.
David Woodward, who directs the Public History Program and the Museum Studies Certificate Program says, "Public history is an exciting field. It helps people use tools, such as archives and oral history, to gain a new understanding of the past."
