Paul Sharp Honored

UMD professor receives the ISA Distinguished Scholar Award.

UMD Professor Paul Sharp

Paul Sharp, professor in UMD's Department of Political Science, will be presented with the Distinguished Scholar Award in the Diplomatic Studies Section by the International Studies Association (ISA).

In the words of UMD Professor Cynthia Rugeley, “Paul is very deserving of this honor, and our students and political science faculty benefit from his knowledge.” He has nearly a dozen publications focused on international relations and diplomacy authored by himself or with co-editors. Sharp’s most recent publication is the textbook, Introducing International Relations, (April 2018), pp. I-xi, 1-433.

His research projects regarding U.S. diplomacy are most notable. Some of his achievements include being a leading scholar in diplomacy, being a frequent guest of international programs, and being a most needed asset in the college and university political science programs. This last winter, Sharp lectured in China as a distinguished professor.

The Distinguished Scholar Award will be presented to Sharp on Thursday, March 26 at the 2020 ISA Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The University of Minnesota Duluth congratulates Paul Sharp for his excellence and achievement.
