Pack of Bulldogs Unleashed on Neighborhood Garbage

UMD’s Student Association is leading an effort to tidy up the neighborhoods surrounding campus on Sat., Oct. 14 from 12–3 p.m.

The first-ever Neighborhood Cleanup begins at noon with check in and a light brunch in the Kirby Student Center, 1120 Kirby Drive. Crews will be in the neighborhoods from 1–3 p.m.

Team leads will take groups through Woodland and Snelling Avenues, as well as 21, 24, 19 and Superior Streets. They’ll also cleanup Portland Square, 1016 E. 5 Street.

Azril Awal is the Student Association’s vice president of Student Life and is organizing the afternoon. She says an afternoon spent picking up garbage is a clean sweep for UMD. “Student Association is the voice of the students, who want to say thanks and have a direct impact on our community.”

Awal has invited fellow student organizations and staff and faculty to participate and anticipates having between 50–100 people join her.
