Lisa Erwin Named NASPA Pillars of the Profession Member

The honor was given by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

Vice Chancellor for Student Life and Dean of Students Lisa Erwin
Lisa Erwin, vice chancellor for student life and dean of students, has been named a member of the Class of 2016 Pillars of the Profession, as designated by the NASPA Foundation and its board of directors.

Erwin is a recipient of an honor based on four specific criteria: being an individual of sustained distinction in higher education as defined by donors and supporters; having served in leadership roles in NASPA, regionally or nationally; being recognized or remembered by colleagues, friends, students or student organizations for extraordinary service; and having significant lifetime contributions to higher education.

"It is a great honor to receive this recognition,” Erwin said. “I'm very fortunate to work in higher education and student affairs; and supporting students in their academic and personal success is very rewarding. I'm grateful for wonderful colleagues and amazing students, all of whom give me a tremendous amount of hope for the future!”

Erwin was one of 14 student life leaders to be designated as a 2016 Pillar of the Profession. She will be honored at the 2016 NASPA Annual Conference in Indianapolis, Ind. in March 2016.

Prior to becoming UMD's vice chancellor for student life and dean of students, Erwin served as vice president for student development and enrollment at Bemidji State University.
