My Beautiful Library Photo & Film Contest

Capture images of UMD's Kathryn A. Martin Library.

UMD students are invited to enter the third annual My Beautiful Library Photo & Film Contest. 

Photographs and films entered must depict some part of the Kathryn A. Martin Library. Prizes totaling $500 will be awarded in five categories.  

Categories

  • Coolest Interior Library Photo – must be taken inside Martin Library
  • Best Exterior Curb Appeal Shot – must depict some part of the library's exterior
  • Getting Collaborative in a Group Study Room – must include students using a library study room
  • Technological Wonders in the Library – must depict technology being used in the library
  • Film Short – 5 min. or less in length – Imagination encouraged!

Prizes

Photo Category Winners: $50 UMD Stores gift card

Film Winner: $200 UMD Stores gift card
Film Runner-up: $50 UMD Stores gift card

Best in Show: $50 UMD Stores gift card

How to Enter

Students should submit images via their UMD email account to [email protected] by March 30, 5 pm. One entry per category is permitted.

Photo entries will be posted to the library's Instagram account for online voting (#kamlphotos17 ) through April 13 at 5 pm. The top three photographs in each category receiving the most Instagram "likes" ♡♡♡ will compete in a Photo Battle at an awards reception. 

Submitted pictures in each category will be used in displays, posted on Instagram, and featured in future library print, social media, and web promotion.  

Film entries should be uploaded to your UMD Google Drive and shared with [email protected]. One entry per student is permitted. Films will be hosted on the library's YouTube channel and shared on other social media outlets.  

Photo Battle & Awards Reception

A Photo Battle will take place from 4 to 6 pm in Martin Library 115 on Thursday, April 20, 2017.   In-person voting will determine the photography winners and the first and second - place films. Refreshments will be served and prizes awarded.
