The Holocaust and Spain

Dr. Alejandro Baer, director of the U of M Twin Cities' Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, will present a talk on April 27.

On Thursday, April 27, the Baeumler Kaplan Holocaust Commemoration committee will host Associate Professor Alejandro Baer in 120 Solon Campus Center at 7:30 pm, on the UMD campus.  He will give a talk on the Holocaust and Spain.

Alejandro Baer is the Stephen C. Feinstein Chair and Director of the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, and Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. He joined the U of M in 2012.  He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology at the Universidad Complutense Madrid. Baer has authored numerous books and articles addressing issues of genocide, survivor testimony, collective memory, and antisemitism, with particular focus on Germany, Spain, and the Spanish-speaking world.

The Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities promotes academic research, education and public awareness on the Holocaust, other genocides and current forms of mass violence. It was established in 1997 by Dr. Stephen Feinstein as an interdisciplinary research center.
