Halls to be Haunted, Heros to be Honored

UMD's living spaces are being transformed into Haunted Halls for the 22nd annual event on Mon., Oct. 30 from 5–7 p.m.

Area kids between the ages of three and twelve are invited to trick-or-treat, play games, and make crafts in UMD’s five residence halls along 513 Niagara Court.

Haunted Halls is free and open to the public, but a donation to one of UMD’s charity partners is encouraged– Churches United in Ministry (CHUM) and Direct Relief for Puerto Rico.

“Our students love Haunted Halls because it offers them a chance to give back not only to the community, but also to non-profits we believe in,” says Housing and Residence Life’s Katie Lindow. “It’s totally driven by them for others– which makes this one of our favorite UMD events.”

This year’s Haunted Halls theme is “Everyday Heroes,” designed to recognize people like teachers, doctors, firefighters, nurses, and parents. Kids will be able to meet UMD and Duluth police officers and Duluth firefighters.

Parking is available in UMD’s W and V lots.

Last year, nearly 2,000 people attended Haunted Halls.
