On Tuesday, October 30, 2018 a workshop, Preparing Urban Green Spaces in the Lake Superior Watershed for Climate Change, will be held at the Lake Superior Estuarium, 3 Marina Drive, Superior, Wisc., from 9 am to 4 pm.
This workshop is for municipal foresters, planners, park managers, consulting arborists, nursery professional, landscape architects, and others interested in learning more about adapting urban green spaces to climate change. Space is limited and registration ($25) is required.
During the morning session, participants will learn about:
- The effects of climate change in the Lake Superior region and its urban green spaces, including forests, gardens, and natural areas.
- Resources and tools that can be used to integrate climate change into urban green space management.
- Adaptation strategies in the context of sustainable urban green-space management.
- Real-world examples of adaptation projects.
During the afternoon session, participants will:
- Join a hands-on working session to identify actions for incorporating climate adaptation into real-world projects. Participants can bring their own projects or work on existing examples available online here: https://forestadaptation.org/demonstration-projects
