Online Town Hall: Solving North Shore Water Quality Challenges, Monday, October 2, 2017, 12–1 pm.

UMD faculty John A. Downing, Lucinda Johnson, Robert (Bob) Sterner
Join three of UMD’s top water researchers for a conversation about water quality goals for Minnesota’s North Shore, Lake Superior, the St. Louis River and the Duluth-Superior Harbor.

In this Facebook Live event, John A. Downing, director of Minnesota Sea Grant; Lucinda Johnson, associate director of the Natural Resources Research Institute; and Robert (Bob) Sterner, director of the Large Lakes Observatory, are looking forward to lively exchanges with each other and with online participants.

The virtual conversation will be based on challenges in the Lake Superior region and Governor Mark Dayton’s goal of accelerating the pace of progress towards clean water. The results of the interactive event will be submitted to the governor to help determine regional goals and actionable steps to improve Minnesota’s water quality by 25% by 2025.

You can also share your ideas for improving water quality in the state with Governor Dayton on Twitter (#25by25MN) or on the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board’s website.

Sponsored by the University of Minnesota Sea Grant College Program, the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Natural Resources Research Institute, and the University of Minnesota Duluth’s Large Lakes Observatory.
