UMD scientists and staff from the Large Lakes Observatory (LLO), along with other experts, will offer tours on board and presentations on four 2016 Fridays. The popular "LLO Science On Deck," will be held May 27, July 22, August 26, and September 23. Tours start at noon and presentations begin at 3:15 pm. Tours and presentations are free and open to the public.

NOTE: Tours are full on May 27 from noon-2:30 pm.

On May 27, Doug Jensen from Minnesota Sea Grant will present  "Silent Invasion of the Great Lakes: How fish have been introduced into Lake Superior” at 3:15 pm on Friday, May 27.

Doug has a lot to share about invasive species. He is well known for the national campaign Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers! which helps boaters and anglers curb the spread of zebra mussels and Eurasian watermilfoil. Another of his projects, Habitattitude, helps keep non-native pets (think goldfish) and plants out of the environment.

The R/V Blue Heron will tie up during the "LLO Science On Deck" sessions in the Twin Ports harbor at the Great Lakes Aquarium, 353 Harbor Drive in Duluth.
