Mrs. Baeumler will share "My Memories of Fascism:  A Childhood in Hitler's Germany." Mrs. Baeumler was born in Nuremberg, Germany and started school in 1935.  She will share stories from her childhood which illustrate how the Nazis went about taking on power.  As she notes, it took only six years from the time he became chancellor before Hitler had enough military power to implement his most ambitious plan--to conquer central Europe, and possibly the world.

Throughout her professional life, Mrs. Baeumler worked as a social worker in Duluth.  Her husband, Walter Baeumler (1928-1993), was a professor of Sociology at UMD for twenty-eight years.

January 27 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, and this year marks the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
