Anders received the 2016 Rising Star Award from the Association for Business Communication at their 81st annual international conference in October.
The Rising Star Award recognizes the meaningful contributions to the mission and membership of the Association and to the field at large through excellent teaching, research, and/or practical applications, such as consulting and training.
“This award is a true honor,” said Anders, “I know from first-hand experience that there are many innovative and accomplished early career scholars and teachers in the ABC organization. It is extremely gratifying to be recognized for the quality of my work by my colleagues in the discipline.”
Anders, who has held his current position at LSBE for over seven years, also has served as Faculty Fellow for Online and Technology-Enhanced Learning at UMD and as an Office of Information Technology Faculty Fellow in the University of Minnesota system. He is also an active trainer and consultant. He has created and facilitated workshops addressing communication skills, digital literacies, and interpersonal skills for diverse audiences including academics, professionals, and non-profit organizations.

His receiving this prestigious award speaks to his many skills and expertise.”
Anders studies rhetoric and composition with an emphasis in business and professional communication and technology-enhanced learning. His research interests also include open and distributed learning, social collaboration, rhetoric, and theory. His research has appeared in numerous national and international journals.
Anders received his Ph.D. and M.A. in English from Pennsylvania State University.
