Alworth Lecture

Dr. Nicholas Hayes presents “The Visible Hand: Cybermischief and the Putin-Trump Connection" on April 18.

UMD Alworth speaker - Dr. Nick Hayes
On Tuesday, April 18, UMD’s Alworth Institute for International Studies will host Dr. Nicholas Hayes, University Chair in Critical Thinking, St. John’s University, Collegeville, Minn., at 7 pm in the Kathryn A. Martin Library 4th Floor Rotunda, on the UMD campus. His talk is entitled, “The Visible Hand: Cybermischief and the Putin-Trump Connection.”

About the lecture
Questions about Trump’s Russian connections surfaced in the 2016 presidential election and intensified during the first “100 Days” of the Trump Presidency.  What are Putin’s motives for cultivating Trump?  Does the Kremlin have a dossier of incriminating evidence, what the Russians call “kompromat” on the new American president?  In the jargon of the intelligence agencies, Putin has “played” Trump and achieved his goals?
