Students from all five of UMD’s colleges are preparing for the Undergraduate Research & Artistic Showcase (UROP). It’s happening on Tuesday, April 18 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Kirby Ballroom and Kirby Garden Room, 1120 Kirby Drive.
UROP provides financial awards twice yearly to full-time undergraduates for research, scholarly, or creative projects undertaken in partnership with a faculty member.
“UMD students add a new dimension to their undergraduate experience by digging into topics that they’re interested in,” says Fernando Delgado Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. “Or they could partner with their professor, enhancing existing research.”
This year’s topics range from Alzheimer’s Disease to zebra fish. Regional research is also showcased– things like the economic impact of mountain biking in Duluth and watershed development’s impact on North Shore water quality, as well as the culturally significant such as looking at blog comments to dermine the perceptions of women in gaming.
