UMD Ready for Trick-or-Treaters

Bulldogs are inviting Duluth's goblins and ghouls to trick-or-treat in their Haunted Halls.

Haunted Halls is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25 from 5 – 7 p.m. The five residence halls are on campus along 513 Niagara Court.

The event is free and open to the public and is designed for kids between the ages of three and 12 years old.

In addition to trick-or-treating, UMD students are planning food, craft, and carnival stations, all inspired by this year’s “Zootopia” theme.

This is the 21st year that UMD is hosting Haunted Halls. It’s totally organized by students who say they’re using their living space as a way to get to know Duluth better. “I like how Haunted Halls creates a connection between the community and college students,” says Resident Advisor Idun Rasmussen. “It helps decrease certain stereotypes about us.”

Organizers are partnering with Animal Allies Human Society and are suggesting a donation to the organization. Its mascot, Buttercup, will join UMD’s Champ in welcoming trick-or-treaters.

Parking is available in UMD’s W and V lots.

Last year, nearly 2,000 people attended Haunted Halls.
