Professional Attire: Walking the Catwalk at UMD

The sixth annual Dress for Success business attire fashion show, held in February, prepped over 300 students on what to wear.

As students prepare for job or internship interviews, they have recognized the need to ensure they have the right attire to present the employee image a company wants.

The ever-growing event attendance surpassed last year’s busting-at-the-seams full house at the UMD ballroom to necessitate the event’s move to UMD’s Marshall Performing Arts Center.

“Dress for Success is really about preparing students to embrace opportunities with confidence, and what you wear definitely plays a role in that,” said Rachel Prom who along with Alli Ness co-directed the all-student event planning committee.

“Everyone deserves to feel confident when interviewing, attending job fairs, and working in their profession,” said Ness. “With this event, I hope students were inspired to dress for the job they want, not the job they have.”

The retail vendors of Express, maurices, and Mainstream Fashions for Men provided the student models’ attire.
