Stressless in the Library

Wellness & stress reduction events at UMD's Library.

During the fall 2012 semester, library staff started hosting a Stressless Week before finals. After 15 iterations of Stressless activities, and recent feedback, we will be offering additional Stressless activities throughout the semester. Take a look at our upcoming events, and stay tuned for future programs! 

Puzzle Exchange Library in the Library Rotunda

Monday, March 2, 5–7 p.m.  - UMD staff members from SCSE, CEHSP, and the UMD Library want to share the joy of jigsaw puzzling with you. You can bring a puzzle to exchange with our collection - it's easy - take a puzzle and leave a puzzle! What if you don’t have a puzzle to exchange? No worries, we have plenty of extras for first-time puzzlers!

Bulldog Yoga in the Library Rotunda

Wednesday, March 4, 6–7 p.m. - The Bulldog Yoga Club will be hosting a yoga practice in the Library Rotunda on the 4th floor. Bring your own mat and a water bottle.

Hot Cocoa Day, Library Entrance

Monday, March 23, 8 a.m.–2 p.m.  - It'll probably be cold outside. Why not grab a free cup of hot cocoa on your way to class? Pick one up outside of the library.

Stressless Week in the Library

Spring Stressless Week will feature button making, stress balls, pet away worry and stress (PAWS), zoo animals, smoothies, and free coffee, tea, and cocoa, and door prizes. New events will be added as they are confirmed!

  • All Week

    • Free Coffee, Tea, & Iced Coffee, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m.–10 a.m. Served until it is gone.

  • Tuesday, April 28

    • Lake Superior ZooMobile, Library Entrance, 1–3 p.m. - The Lake Superior Zoo brings its tiny menagerie of creatures to share and educate. Meet a hedgehog, ferret, turtle, rabbit, or maybe even the therapy chicken.
  • Wednesday, April 29

    • Pet Away Worry and Stress, Kirby Lounge, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.  - Volunteer Therapy Animals from Animal Allies come to spread joy and relaxation in Kirby Lounge. PET ALL THE DOGGOS!
      Bulldog Yoga Club, SPHC 135, 6–7 p.m. - The Bulldog Yoga Club hosts their yoga practice, and the Library provides door prizes for attendees! Free!

  • Thursday, April 30

    • Free Smoothies, Library Entrance, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. - one of our favorite events! Free 4 oz smoothies for all takers!
