It’s a brand new semester and the Kathryn A. Martin Library is offering two workshops for our graduate students. These free hour-long sessions will help researchers organize and track their research and show off methods to store and preserve their own scholarly output.
Citation Management: Join UMD librarians to find out how to use citation managers Zotero and Mendeley to save sources, create bibliographies, and stay organized throughout the research process. This will be a hands-on look at the process of finding scholarly articles, importing citations to tools that can store PDFs, and creating bibliographies and works cited pages. Our Citation Management workshop will be held on Wednesday, September 6 at noon or 6:00 pm in Library 115.
University Digital Conservancy: Session 2 focuses on preparing for publication and preservation. Research, observation and experiments generate publications and mountains of data. What happens when you move on to a different position and institution? How do you preserve your content and publications for others and for your own use later? Meet with UMD librarians who will help you find a metadata schema, data coding for future reuse, storage solutions, and advice for distributing your data. Our University Digital Conservancy (UDC) workshop will be held on Tuesday, September 12 at 1:00 or 6:00 pm in Library 115.
