Hey new UMD Bulldogs! Do you want to get creative in the library, or are you looking for an evening of strategic board games? Regardless of your interest, we’ve got you covered! The Kathryn A. Martin Library will be hosting two separate Bulldog Welcome Week events on August 24 from 7-10 p.m.
On the first floor of the Library we’ll be hosting Get Crafty, the gluing, coloring, button making, origami folding extravaganza! Meet new friends and create all sorts of fun crafts like origami wallets, key chains, and friendship bracelets. Try your hand at decorating mason jars, coloring, or just create your own mish-mash craft using a lot of glue and books!
On the second floor of the library will be BulldogCon, our brand new board game event. Our friends from Dungeon’s End Game Store will be here to teach us a variety of fun games and give away gift cards for their store. We will feature classics and new favorites like Hungry Hungry Hippos, Settlers of Catan, Super-Fight, and Code-Names. If you’re a fan of strategy and games, or if you are just hoping to make some new friends, this event is your event. Don’t know the rules? No problem - we’ll have seasoned game enthusiasts on hand to help out. A few lucky participants will even walk away with gift certificates to Dungeon’s End.
Both events will share an expansive snack bar on our second floor. We will also bring back our competitive trivia contest featuring events from 1999, the year most of our incoming students were born! Prizes will be given to the winning teams!
