UMD Theatre Alumnus Makes His Debut

Legend has it that Jayson Speters is at the Guthrie.

Jayson Speters
UMD Theatre is thrilled to announce that Jayson Speters, our 2015 BFA Theatre (Musical Theatre emphasis) alumnus and award-winning actor, is starring in the lead role of Casey in The Legend of Georgia McBride opening Sat., July 14 at The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis.

Jayson's path since graduation has been filled with multiple acting opportunities. He began his "real-world" experiences with Actors Theatre of Louisville during their 2015-16 season and performed in their The Humana Festival of New American Plays. He then moved to New York City after meeting his current agent Teresa Wolf with Wolf Talent Group.

While living in the "Big Apple," Jayson's been cast in several productions including the TV show The Path on Hulu, a PSA series, a national ad campaign for Planned Parenthood, and the international tour of Legally Blonde The Musical, among other exciting works with new playwrights and composers.

Recently Jayson shared with us, "I am constantly having to pinch myself out of disbelief and thank the universe and my years of hard work for how fortunate I’ve been. Thanks to all of the faculty who touched my life while I was a Bulldog. Now I am back in Minnesota performing at a dream theatre of mine."

Jayson performs at the Guthrie Theater from July 14 - August 26. Come experience our UMD School of Fine Arts Bulldog alumnus.  Tickets and information at  https://z.umn.edu/UMDAlumGuthrie

At the 2015 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, Jayson received numerous awards, including the College of Fellows of the American Theatre’s Jane Alexander Award for Acting which provided a $2500 cash prize.

Jayson received the UMD Isaac & Rose Gershgol Scholarship two years in a row (2013–15) and the SFA Dean’s Theatre Talent Scholarship each of the four years that he attended UMD.
