Art & Design Hosts Students

Elementary students enjoy Halloweek with academia and multicultural activities.

UMD opens its doors to the second and third grade classes of Lowell Elementary for a multicultural and creative morning on Thursday, October 31 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The UMD Art and Design department is looking forward to hosting a creative arts experience that also celebrates diversity and inclusion. This academic collaboration will allow each child the opportunity to learn about Ojibwe and Hispanic culture.

Children get the chance to learn about Dia de Los Muertos ofrenda and create folk art in UMD's newly redesigned Multicultural Center. They will also be able to take in the marvelous exhibit of Ojibwe bandolier bags in the Tweed Museum of Art. The students will be creating their very own bandolier bag and take part in a wide variety of activities while learning about Ojibwe culture and art. This special day will be led and taught by art and design students as they teach creativity and culture in a fresh and exciting way.
