The international activities are a vital part of the graduate program as faculty and students interact with faculty, students, and people globally in the field communication sciences and disorders. These activities meet the University of Minnesota's mission of internationalization, diversity and academic excellence through international network development via the international speech-language pathology conferences with China. UMD has successfully established itself as the first US institution to be part of this series of conferences. This collaboration has significant implications towards elevating the quality of speech-language pathology in China, immediately and in the future as China is now starting to develop the standards of speech-language pathology discipline.
