Minnesota Public Interest Research Group (MPIRG) is one of the student organizations involved with the elections this year. "Voting has been an important part of MPIRG in the past," said MPIRG member Ella Stewart. The organization's involvement continues this year, as MPIRG members, along with Kirby Student Center Staff, will be supplying voter information in the Kirby Garage on November 2.

He's a member of MPIRG and other UMD student organizations, has some insights to share with fellow students. "If there's one thing I'd emphasize to students before Election Day, it's the importance of voting in primaries and local elections, especially in off-year elections like this one where turnout is generally low."

Our votes can make the difference between a city council that represents us and one that doesn't." Tom Julstrom
He emphasizes the impact. "Local elections have significant impacts on our lives as students and as residents of Duluth, and just one vote can make a difference! This year the Duluth city council primary was decided by a single vote, and it seems likely that the general election will be similarly close!"
