The event, Spotlight on the Ukraine Russian Conflict, will be held on Monday, March 21, beginning at 6:30 pm in the 4th Floor Rotunda of the KAM Library on the campus of UMD.

The speakers will touch on different aspects of the conflict, including the world's response, foreign policy, Ukrainian resistance, and other topics.

Natalie Belsky, assistant professor of history, says she will address the historical context of the war. "Specifically, I believe it's important to understand how the Putin regime is creating and weaponizing false historical narratives to legitimize this conflict, particularly for the domestic audience."

The event is sponsored by the Alworth Institute for International Affairs. The Institute aims to engage students, staff and the wider public in open discussion, for educational, social and democratic purposes, of a wide range of international issues and of their domestic implications.
