About Juneteenth

Juneteenth, a compilation of the words "June" and "nineteenth," has gained awareness as a commemoration of the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans. It is also often observed for celebrating African-American culture.  This year, 2022, is the first year Juneteenth is designated as a federal holiday, and federal workers will receive a day-off work on Monday, June 20.
