CEHSP student spotlight: Caitlin Efta

Meet Caitlin Efta, senior in the Department of Education and president of Education Minnesota Aspiring Educators UMD

What is your major?

Integrated Elementary and Special Education

Why did you choose UMD?

I chose the University of Minnesota Duluth because I knew that offered an amazing education program and it is the only school across the state to offer this major/double licensure.

What do you like most about your program?

I love how inclusive and connected the students within the major are to each other. I have never seen so much collaboration between a group of people!

What has been your most meaningful experience at UMD so far?

The most meaningful experience I have had throughout my years of college is when I joined the Aspiring Educators Organization on campus. When I did this I gained many opportunities that I was unable to be a part of before.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

When you are starting your first year, find a few things that will help you be successful throughout your future.

  1. Find a place where you can study that works well for you.

  2. Find a club or organization where you are happy to spend your time and where you can make friends!

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy watching Minnesota sports such as Twins Baseball, Vikings football, and the Minnesota Wild Hockey team.
