CERE Summit: Creating Change

Foreign Languages and Literatures faculty to participate in Feb. 22 Creating Change summit.

On February 22, the UMD Commission on Equity, Race and Ethnicity (CERE) will host its annual summit, Creating Change: The 2017 Summit on Equity, Diversity, Multiculturalism and Student Leadership. Two faculty members from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures will be presenting sessions as part of the all-day conference.

French Studies Associate Professor Milan Kovacovic will present "Images of Human Diversity in French-Speaking Cinema" and Hispanic Studies Assistant Professor Carol Wallace will present "You Don't Look Hispanic: Intersections of Race & Ethnicity in Latino Communities." 

The keynote speaker for this event will be Debbie Irving, author of the books Waking Up White and Finding Myself in the Story of Race. For more information about the Summit or to register to attend, click here or visit the CERE webpage at d.umn.edu/cere.
