UMD Gathers to Write to Political Leaders

January 25, 2017

Faculty, staff, and students are invited to "Hear Our Voice, Postcard Rally" Wed., Feb. 1.

With support from KUMD’s “The Basement” and the Women's Resource and Action Center, UMD's Commission for Women is offering addressed postcards with postage for attendees to send to their senators, letting them know what issues matter to them.

"The Commission for Women is thrilled to partner with these student organizations to offer our campus the opportunity to communicate with their elected representatives,” says Jessica Gile Eaton, chair of the UMD Commission for Women. “Our democracy is rooted in the tradition of speaking out, and we are honored to offer our students, faculty, and staff the chance to do just that, regardless of their political beliefs."

The event was inspired by the January 21, 2017 women's marches all over the world that called for change.
