File shape with the word PDF
October 6, 2019

An Accessibility Hackathon for PDFs will be held on Fri., Oct. 25.

PDF Hackathon for Accessibility
Friday, October 25, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: KPlz 175

PDF’s are a commonly used tool for sharing information. They can also be extremely inaccessible in terms of text recognition, structure, language, and findability. It's a daunting task to inventory, clean, and republish these crucial communication tools.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there were resources and support for rebuilding your PDFs? With a group of colleagues and trainers, you can begin your journey towards accessible content. Get started on hacking your PDFs.

Join in on Friday, October 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. for an Accessibility Hackathon for PDFs in Kirby Plaza 175:

  • Drop-in for any amount of time (10, 20 minutes, 3 hours, etc.) with questions and files.
  • Learn about the appropriate use of PDFs and the processes to make them accessible.
  • Share your knowledge with faculty, staff, administrators, IT, librarians, and students.

All are welcome. Curiosity is required, not expertise. No RSVP required. Refreshments and snacks will be provided for drop-ins.

PDF Hackathon is being hosted by members of the:

  • Accessible Academic Technology Team
  • Office of Disability Resources
  • UMPR
