Winter Greeting

A semester break message from UMD to Bulldogs everywhere.

Each year, Bulldogs at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) work hard through the fall semester: studying, reading, calculating, singing, creating, learning, and growing together. The end of the semester is a time where that all synthesizes in projects and exams. It’s important, but can also be a stressful time. Thankfully, it’s followed by a welcome calm when classes are done, exams complete, and projects submitted. It’s a time for rest and reflection, for recharging and spending time with friends, family and loved ones. Campus gets quieter; the days are shorter, the nights colder. It’s a good opportunity to warm up by the hearth and take a breath.

In the words of UMD Chancellor Nies,

I can’t believe how quickly this semester has gone. I’ve learned a lot in my first semester here as chancellor, and I trust that each of you has expanded your knowledge as well.

To our students graduating this semester, congratulations! We are so proud of you, your determination, and your hard work. Please stay engaged with UMD and know that you’re always welcome back to campus.

I hope that you all have a great winter break. To help kick off this season, I’d encourage you to take a few minutes to watch this fun video.

Thanks for a great semester. Enjoy a restful and restorative semester break.
