After the pandemic prompted an unprecedented gap year, UMD’s homecoming celebration resumes the week of October 10 - 16, 2021.
The community has joined Bulldogs for 87 celebrations– every fall since 1933, with the exception of last year. “The enthusiasm for UMD goes way beyond campus,” says Matt Duffy, director of Alumni Relations. “You can feel support from the Twin Ports to the nearly 80,000 alumni living all over the world.”
This long-standing tradition kicks off with Service Sunday on October 10 and roars through the Homecoming football game on October 16, 2021. Here are all the details:
Service Sunday
Sunday, October 10, 2021 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Ten UMD student organizations will gather for a group pic and then fan out across Duluth to clean up area neighborhoods. Locations include Chester Bowl, Bagley, the Rose Garden, Hartley, and Park Point.
Bulldog Country Fair
Friday, October 15, 2021 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Kirby Terrace
The great UMD Get Together! Fair food, games, inflatables– all the fun you’d expect at a fair with the added awesomeness of UMD Homecoming week.
Tailgating
Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.
UMD parking lot C by Malosky Stadium
Just a few hours after sunrise, the parking lots outside Malosky Stadium are being transformed into a tent city, founded in order to harness enthusiasm before the 12:05 kickoff against Concordia St. Paul.
Alumni Beer & Cider Sampler
Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
UMD parking lot M2 by Malosky Stadium
Local craft breweries are showcased at Homecoming Beer & Cider Sampler. Registered guests receive a complimentary Bulldog sampler glass with the purchase of their $10 ticket. Tickets for the sampler event are limited. All guests must be 21 and older.
Bulldog Walk
Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11:20 a.m.
A goosebump-inducing event, in a nutshell. The football team is escorted through tailgating fans and onto the field by UMD’s pep band, cheerleaders, and danceline.
