Why did you choose UMD?
The BSW program is hybrid, which has allowed me to still work and support my family while progressing towards my degree. Also, I liked that the master's program is accelerated if you complete the bachelor's program here.
What do you like most about your programs?
The professors and my fellow students. Social workers and social work students have big hearts and big ambitions. We feel most at home helping others, whether that be on an individual level like therapy or crisis response; or at a macro level influencing policy to promote social justice.
What has been your most meaningful experience at UMD so far?
Social Work Day at the Capitol was really cool. I got to spend time with my classmates and see those on the front line affecting social change for the better.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and stay connected to your classmates. Whether it be on Facebook, group chat, Snapchat, whatever...it’s awesome to be able to talk to your classmates outside of school!
What do you like to do in your free time?
Goof off with my husband and kids, tend to my plants, go to the beach, sauna with friends, make art, laugh, dream.
