UMD Recognizes Consent Week

Events scheduled October 4 -7, 2021.

UMD is standing against sexual assault and emphasizing the importance of respect and consent through the following events during Consent Week:

Stand In Against Sexual Assault

Monday, October 4, 2021 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

The Kirby Student Center, 1120 Kirby Drive

UMD students, faculty, and staff are gathering for Stand Together Against Sexual Assault on Monday, October 4. The campus community is forming a line together at noon that is designed to create a visual presence of support in ending sexual misconduct and assault.  

“A stand-in is a sign of protest, and we want to show that we will not fade into the background when it comes to sexual assault,” says organizer Lauretta Perry, a drug and alcohol educator at UMD. 

Annual Take Back the Night March & Rally

Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 6 - 8 p.m.

Take Back the Night Rally at UMD

6 p.m. Rally Gathering & Resource Fair, Kirby Bus Hub

Community resources tabling, ways to get involved, and campus and community engagement around the prevention and intervention of power-based violence. There will be opportunities for attendees to make signs for the march. 

7 p.m. March Around Campus & Neighboring Community

7:30 p.m. Speak Out, Kirby Bus Hub

A space for attendees to speak out about their experiences and share their truth. This space encourages victims and survivors of power-based violence, their supporters, and the community to share their hopes, fears, and stories about power-based violence.
